Sober Living by the Sea has been recognized as a comprehensive and effective drug treatment center in Southern California since 1986 that has helped men and women from all over the world get and stay sober.
Our earliest beginnings were in providing long-term rehab solutions for men and women who were in recovery but needed more structure and guidance after completing a traditional 30-day rehab program. We opened our Newport Beach sober living houses and immediately, recovering men and women from Santa Ana, Huntington Beach, Costa Mesa, and Irvine had a quality resource for rehab treatment in Orange County.
There were many men and women from all over SoCal who were recovering from addiction to cocaine, methamphetamine, and alcohol dependency in the mid-1980s so soon we had clients residing in our residential alcohol rehab facilities and commuting to their jobs in Orange, Fullerton, Mission Viejo, Anaheim, Lake Forest, and Tustin.
Once we received all necessary approvals, we immediately had men and women coming to live in our drug treatment centers from the farthest reaches of Orange County like Yorba Linda and San Clemente. Soon after this, we were treating drug addiction and alcoholism in clients from San Diego and Los Angeles counties as well. Now, we regularly have clients on our campus from Australia, Asia, the U.K., Europe, and locations all around the world.
A Recovery Community Like No Place Else in the World
Sober Living by the Sea is located right in the heart of the Newport Beach Peninsula, which is a vibrant recovery community that features the most Alcoholics Anonymous 12-Step Meetings (1,300+) of any region in the world including Los Angeles and New York. Having such a high concentration of recovery-related meetings and activities has led to the development of a rich variety of 12-Step “anonymous” support group meetings in Orange County including:
- NA (Narcotics Anonymous)
- CA (Cocaine Anonymous)
- OA (Overeaters Anonymous)
- GA (Gamblers Anonymous)
- CODA (Codependents Anonymous)
- ABA (Anorexics and Bulimics Anonymous)
The Orange County Alcoholics Anonymous office is located in Santa Ana. Many of our treatment center alumni volunteer and hold commitments in the Alcoholics Anonymous recovery community that bring them to the central office to pick up 12-Step books or participate as a GSR (General Service Representative).
Recovery Activities for Sobriety, Spirituality, and Self-Esteem
One of our mottos here is surf, sand, sun, and a fresh start on life. Recovery at our rehab facilities will feature many esteem-building social activities that help our clients learn how to have fun in sobriety. From surfing in Huntington Beach to going to the world famous Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, our clients will be outdoors having the opportunity to participate in structured, supervised, physical, and enriching activities including softball, gym excursions, trips to art museums (like the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana), and of course the occasional movie.
