Celebrate Recovery uses the Bible to help men and women overcome their addictions and alcoholism.

What Is Celebrate Recovery?

Christian Track

Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered 12-Step program founded in 1991 at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California.  It is now active in over 3,500 churches across America and the world.

The purpose of Celebrate Recovery is to celebrate God’s healing power in our lives through the 12 Steps and 8 Recovery principles.  This experience allows us to “be changed.”  We open the door by sharing our experiences, strengths, and hopes with one another.  In addition, we become willing to accept God’s grace in solving our lives’ problems. Please click here for a closer look at the philosophy of Celebrate Recovery.

By working and applying these Biblical principles, we begin to grow spiritually.  We become free from our addictive, compulsive, and dysfunctional behaviors.  This freedom creates peace, serenity, joy, and most importantly, a stronger personal relationship with God and others.  As we progress through the program we discover our personal, loving and forgiving Higher Power, Jesus Christ.

What Are The Components of Celebrate Recovery at Sober Living by the Sea?

Celebrate Recovery Bible

The key components of Celebrate Recovery at our treatment center are:

  • Open Share Groups
  • Step Studies and 12-Step Support Meetings
  • Sponsors and accountability partners,
  • Individual weekly meeting with leaders
  • Individual weekly meetings with case manager
  • Reading the Celebrate Recovery Bible
  • Working in the Celebrate Recovery Participant Guides

Clients are provided transportation to St. Andrews Church and Worship Services at The Crossing each week.

How Long Is This Program?

The Celebrate Recovery program is often combined with our longer term extended care treatment programs.  This means that clients can combine Celebrate Recovery with the T.E.A.C.H. College Program where clients earn college credits at Saddleback College.

The great thing about Celebrate Recovery is that since it is a nationwide program,  both the client and family are strongly encouraged to continue their recovery at a local Celebrate Recovery program in their own community.

What Can Celebrate Recovery Small Groups Do?

Celebrate Recovery’s small groups provide a safe place to share your experiences, strengths, and hopes with others who are going through the “Principles” in a Christ-centered recovery. There is a leader and a Proram Administrator who has gone through a similar experience and will facilitate the group as it focuses on the steps of recovery.

Celebrate Recovery will also provide you with the opportunity to find a sponsor and accountability partners and attend recovery meetings throughout the week.

Today, the very worst day I can have is still a “great day to be alive.”  Today life is simple because I get to make a choice. Live in the disease or live in recovery. Life really is that simple today.

I get asked all the time, “why so many certifications”? I believe in a “whole person” approach. I have never met a client whose only issue was substance abuse. The more I know, the greater the help I can offer.Michael Maxey

"For me this whole thing is very simple. Eventually, everyone gets it. When they do, the enlightenment that they go through makes all the effort worthwhile."
