Freedom is not free... from a Treatment Staff Member
Greg is dedicated to recovery and he really "knows the deal" when it comes to starting a new life free of addiction.
Freedom is not free...
When addicted to drugs and alcohol freedom loses all its meaning.
Here we are in the freest environment in the world, yet in the grips of addiction we are prisoners chained to the substance that we abuse. Most people that are caught up in this terrible way of life can see no way out. Realizing that we have become powerless over anything is just too shameful or demoralizing to come to grips with. And even though are lives are falling apart around us we find ourselves in the blind fold of denial. Too often, tragedy happens before we can see some light.
Tragedy for alcoholics and drug addicts often takes the form of jails, institutions, or sometimes even death.
Sometimes it takes a severe bottom for somebody to reach out for help. Interventions can sometimes be a life saver. But usually a family is so affected by the addicted person that they have become dysfunctional and end up enabling instead of helping.
There is help and there are ways to educate ourselves and family members. The first and most important is to ask. This is the first step in a new found freedom. We do have choices and making the right choice is the first step in being truly free. Being able to ask for help starts the journey for people’s lives to change and brings them into that freedom of choice that is so important.
The staff at the Sober Living by the Sea network of treatment centers has the expertise and availability to help in all situations. The beautiful environment of Newport Beach, California is an ally to treatment here. , The start of a new found Freedom is possible.
