When it comes to sobriety and a solid program of recovery, Chris Swanberg "brings it" to our clients pretty much around the clock. He has been kind enough to write up some of his thoughts for this blog entry.

There are a lot of people out there that would like an easier, softer way to stay clean and sober. I have found the solution. Actually, I have heard the solution in 12-step meetings. It has been said over and over on how to do this the easier softer way. I am going to tell you the procedure to go about this.Chris Swanberg

First:  Get yourself a sponsor who has knowledge of the Big Book “Alcoholics Anonymous.” Call your sponsor each day.

Second:  Start going to meetings that you like. Find meetings that have people you would like to get to know. Get your hand out to meet these people.

Third:  Form these meetings into a regular routine so you know where to be each morning, afternoon or night without even thinking about it. Get your hand up and share something each time.
Fourth:  Read the Big Book of AA and ask your sponsor questions as such:

"The book says I need to work the steps, when do we start? What kind of pages should I read in the morning when I wake up?"

Fifth:  Get honest with yourself and follow directions.
Sixth:  Get a service commitment at a recovery meeting to make yourself accountable.
Seventh:  Make yourself available to help others.

See how simple this is? It is the easier softer way. As time goes by it even gets easier. A lot of people think this is hard. Seven easy ways to stay clean and sober.

...And you thought I was going to say, “Just don’ drink or use.”

Good Luck!
