Spirituality Equals Service by Staff Member Steven East
What I love about working in the field of recovery is that people like Steven are around me at all times. There is a code that we share and it is one that drives us to help people recover from addiction at all times and in all areas of our lives.
Spirituality Equals Service
The concept of service can be somewhat elusive to grasp. On one hand we exert time and effort to the primary objective of accomplishing some benefit to others, but do we not benefit as well ? In fact, one could successfully argue that our time and effort, in this way, is rarely wasted.
Resistance
Although, at times, our primary object may be subject to persistent resistance, but the intended altruistic goals are only rendered unachievable when the process arrives at some point of hiatus.
Progress Rather Than Perfection
Progress rather than perfection can be interpreted as never giving up on the suffering alcoholic; for if we give up on this unfortunate lot, do not we truly give up on our selves.
If One Person Falls
I believe that if one person gains spirituality the whole world gains with him and if one person falls the whole world falls to a certain extent. I do not help others with out at the same time helping myself and every thing in the universe as a whole.
