Why Will People Remember Sober Living by the Sea?
Staff member Kelly K has a huge heart and is totally dedicated to helping the men and women in our facility embrace the life of recovery and learn that living life sober can be better than they ever imagined. In this entry, Kelly discusses how people will remember their time at Sober Living by the Sea.
Why will people remember Sober Living by the Sea?
Will it be because we love them until they learned to love themselves?
Or will it be because they connected with the people here who understood their delusional thoughts because it "takes one to know one?"
This is how it is for me when I remember the people who helped me and saved my life.
Our staff has found that love, tolerance, and grace will soften hearts to help clients find their Higher Power and succeed in recovery.
Alcohol's Destructive Toll
In my life I had every opportunity a person could wish for at his disposal. A progressive disease called alcoholism wreaked havoc in my life which became totally unmanageable and almost too much to bear.
I was a black out alcoholic from day one. I stopped growing mentally at a very young age. As I got older, my disease progressed and my perception of the world became increasingly warped. By the time I was 38 (when I finally got sober) I was in a hopeless state of mind and body. I had lost the will to live.
When they let me out of jail that last time, I was sobered up enough to remember some of the men and women that had helped me when I had nothing. I remembered the grace and understanding they showed towards me for no other reason than our common disease of addiction.
What We Do is Who We Have Become
This place is a perfect combination of beautiful beaches, exercise, sunsets, freedom, 12-step meetings , doctors, and counselors.
The most important thing about our treatment facility is that the staff members love alcoholics and addicts because they are like us and we would like nothing more then to see them succeed. Each one of us had the help of others in our recovery and learned patience and tolerance.
