In sports or cooking this may be applicable but spiritually this is nonsense. You are either on the path or not. Additionally, to believe that since one has been on the path for a time that conditions or requirements for continued spiritual growth have changed can lead to spiritual pride, a sense of entitlement and destructive righteousness in demonstration. If you are a fan of rock and roll and also in recovery, then you may be wary of going to rock concerts because the environment may have many triggers and remind you of your days of using drugs or alcohol. Some of us in early recovery were warned to avoid "slippery" situations like a concert and we have become accustomed to AA/NA meetings and sober social events where there is a support group of sober people to interact with and no drugs or alcohol to be found. read more...
